gINT UPGRADE OFFERS GOOGLE EARTHTM INTEGRATION FOR BOREHOLE DATA
Borehole Data, Images, Customizable Data Displays Mapped to Satellite Imagery
Windsor, CA, September 11, 2008—gINT Software, Inc.
gINT Software's new 8.2 upgrade to gINT lets users publish their boreholes directly to
Google EarthTM. An easy-to-use Google Earth Setup dialog in gINT lets users specify
an icon and choose a color, label, and description for each borehole or group of borings. In addition to displaying
icons on the Google Earth map, the description designed by the user appears in a popup window when the icon in
Google Earth is clicked. Links to any type of file, such as JPEGs of site photos and PDFs showing borehole logs, can
be inserted into the popup window as well.
The Google Earth feature enables gINT users to easily present data in an informative and impressive Web medium,
making data-access easy for their clients.
Users can set up gINT to automatically display boring logs, borehole data, calculations or other information stored
in gINT project files with the help of the "gINT Rules" programming feature. Examples include the display of depth
and elevation of bedrock, water level, and hole-related images automatically selected by the programming routine upon
certain conditions. Data can be set up to display in separate layers, which viewers can turn on or off as
desired. gINT Rules are highly flexible, allowing the user to program virtually anything to display in
the Google Earth popup window, enhancing the sharing of information between clients and their customers in a visually
appealing and powerful format.
"The new Google Earth capability in gINT 8.2 offers clients a strong technological edge," said Salvatore Caronna, president of gINT Software. "The ability to provide information to clients using Google Earth's satellite-based imagery mapping gives gINT users a powerful tool. Our preliminary conversations with gINT users indicate that this is going to become one of its most popular features for boring log display."
The new Google Earth Setup dialog box in gINT allows easy publication of gINT data to Google Earth-borehole locations, images, etc.- it can be easily done by any gINT user. More advanced functionality can be created by gINT users who are familiar with the "gINT Rules" programming function in gINT, or can be created by gINT Software's Technical Services Department, which specializes in the development of gINT Rules programming code designed to meet customer specifications.
